The Plan.

So I went on a veterans retreat over the weekend. it gave me break from everything and time to breathe.  I got clear my head and relax.  So here is what I come up with as far as the plans for as our work and the production company: In the next 30 day we will become a LLC and do all the legal things we need to do.  We are going to start our crowdfunding campaign  in about 40 days. The next 2 months I am doing all the research for my feature film, then I am going away for 10 or 14  days to write the film. In 3 months we will shoot Dumbsaints.  This gives me enough time to do director and acting prep. I also need to loose a little weight and build up in order to play Kerouac.

What I need: a Unit Production Manager. I am wearing to many hats and UPM can’t be one of them.  I just don’t have the time.  Also we are still looking for a woman to join our production company.  I want women to be involved.  So if you are in the Tampa Bay area and you want to join a serious production company is me up.  One of my main goals is to bring women into film business. They are woefully under represented.  That had to change. So  if you are a producer or director/ producer contact me. Help us create an amazing film company.

So what has been up with me and the crew.

Hey all.  After a long hiatus I am back here to share with you what is going on with me, 11 Bang Bang and Dumbsaints. As for me I slugging away. I have an art show in May that I am working on, and I am leading a veterans’ mental health advocacy group.  I also have a radio show that I am pretty proud of.  As far as 11 Bang Bang goes, I am working on the incorporation of 11BB.  We are looking for people to invest in our production company. At least get us up and running.  We have 2 solid projects in the works, and we also want to do a web series in the near future.  This will help us break into TV which is something I really want to do.  Well all are doing a crash course in crowdfunding and social media. We each a 3 books from Seed & Sparks; which is the crowdfunding platform we will be raising money from.  I am growing my hair out so I can play Jack Kerouac.

Also I have to go to the media about my arrest and give them the facts about my arrest. I  have to get that out before the crowdfunding campaign. The record is wrong and I have to fix it.

I am going to be writing here a lot more. I really need to invest time in my writing. And there is a lot to write about, and not all of it is about film and art.

And one last thing, we are looking for a female filmmaker who a producer producer/director.  We want   female input to what we are doing.

The week ahead. 23 Jan 2017

WOW.  I am super excited about this week ahead. Life is good. I am shedding the distractions out of my life and becoming much more focused.  So I am looking to the week ahead and sharing plans with you. I think you should plan out your week. It gives you a map. My problem has always been staying on that map.  But much is changing with me and in good ways.  I went to see a dance performance yesterday and it had a profound effect on me. It reminded me what I was like before 2003. In 03 my injury from the military came back and I was unable to work. I had to fight the VA  and pretty much lost my mind and forgot who I was.  I remember yesterday what I was like and what my life was like, and I want that life back.

So this week here is what is going to be happening: I need to finish the Alternative ending to a short film I am producing and acting in called Dumb Saints. I know I haven’t mentioned this film before but I will share it with you all soon. I need to finish the by book Girls Like Us by Rachel Lloyd and then knock out about 2 more books for research for my feature. Rachel’s book has been a great source of information of sex trafficking in America and tells of her own experience. If you care about the issue of sex trafficking you should seriously read it. I am half way done with it and it has opened my eyes even more than they were.  I have to finish up a blog post I have for this blog on Florida film incentives and the Koch brothers. Those assholes. I got the Screenwriters Bible by David Trotter to read.  It is a large book to read, that will probably will two weeks.  I also want to knock out a screenplay. I am going to start reading screenplays on a regular basis.

I also need to see what steps I need to take to get the film society up and running. I am looking for a lawyer who would like to volunteer their services so that we can create a 501 c3 non-profit organization. We also will be looking for donors to help us start the society. I really feel strongly about having a film society here in Tampa. Something that becomes a cultural treasure in this great city.

Sex trafficking/combat veteran film update

Hey all, I hope you are well. I slugging away on the research on my feature. There is so much reading involved. Dear lord. But you know you need to research the subjects you’re writing about. Yes, it takes time but you will write a better screenplay, book, or article. Also you are less likely to get called out for getting it wrong. And for me that would be the worst thing that would be said about my work.

So I would say that bringing awareness to the subjects of the sex slave trade and combat veteran’s issues is my main goal with my film. I was talking to a guy the other night and I told him that the average age that a prostitutes enter the business in 13. He was shocked. With my film I want to educate Americans of a horrible truth. The more awareness on this subject the better.

So I realized I do not write enough. I really need to delicate more time to it. I have 3 blogs: this one, my personal blog and a social and political one. I have lots to say and enjoy doing them. I also think that I can contribute to the filmmaking and art community.

What producers need to know about screenwriters. Find the right one for your story.

I was the twitter today and came across a Film Courage tweet about new videos that they put up, so I began to watch an interview with Vicki Peterson, Barbara Nicolosi about what mistakes screenwriters make with their first screenplay. The big thing I took from the interview was that not all screenwriters are suited for all types of screenplays. Now there are a lot of factors as to why this is, but if you are a producer you need to know this so that you can hire the right screenwriter for your story. You don’t want to waste your time on a screenwriter that isn’t suited to deliver the screenplay you need.  I never considered that, but it makes perfect sense.

I will be writing my first screenplay here soon and I think I can pull it off, but I must be aware and honest with myself that if I find myself not being the right kind writer for my screenplay then I need to go find one who is.

Also, Barbra and Vicki wrote a book that just came out that you will want to check out called “Notes to Screenwriters” which you can find on Amazon.

Update on Sex Slavery film 25 June 14

I just wanted to update on the short I am doing on sex slavery, I have decided I need this to be a feature length film. As many know I have been working on this film for 2011, and ooohh there is a lot to the development story of this film which will come out soon, but I was really struggling with the basic plot of my film, and then, after having a conversation with a Tampa filmmaker Marcus Kempton, the plot came to me.  At first it was a short, but the deeper I got into the process the more clearer it became that this needs to be a feature. In this film, I am also going to get into the subject of what it means to be a soldier that, did multiple tours in combat, what it is like to adjust to civilian life.  I almost have tagline done, and I am outlining and writing the synopsis.   I am really excited.

 

I am reading Dexter Filkins’ book “The Forever War” as part of my research for my series. I am looking into what I need for Pitchfest out in LA.  Hopefully I can get what I need to go and get sponsorship.  I can’t can’t afford to go. And hey, I know it is a long shot that this will make it to a Network., but I got to try and see what can happen.  I already have support in my community and people that I trust.   Really Excited

So just to give you all an update about what is going on with me, I have started an outline on my short film about forced prostitution and I am writing character development and back story. I want to have a finally draft in less than 2 months and I am going to have the outline done this week.  I think I have a good film in the works and I  hope , when it is done, you’ll all enjoy it and not feel cheated out of 15 to 20 minutes of your life. I also want to make an impact regarding this topic and to bring awareness to it. I know around my neck woods you are constantly being cheated out of 10 to 25 minutes of your life and I will not follow in the same footsteps.   There is the standard that it has to be maintained  or why put it out. The story has to be spot on, other wise you’ll have a bad film. Remember, script is 75% of your film. Shitty script shitty film. There is no way about squaring that circle.   I haven’t given up on the series. I am still working on it, though I have fallen behind of  the 8 ball but will soon be back on track.

I got my porch/studio set up. I will have some pictures in the day or two. I am ready to go. I plan to have a show in 6 to 8 months.  Now where and who in God’s name would have me in their is remains to be seen.  Once again, if it not good and I will not waste your time; however that being said, I believe I will have something worth showing.

Finally, Semone Fournillier graduated from American Film Institute Conservatory today. As those who follow me know that I have been working with her a project and might be working on a couple more. She is a talented writer and has a amazing future ahead. I am so very proud of her and what she has accomplished.

Oh, in the next day or two I will be writing about a new crowdfunding site.  I think you’ll dig it a lot.

Quick update, 1 June 14. 2:14 am

Ok, so I was asked to join and produce a project; which I had strong reservations about doing.  I am not going to go into the details, but I saw huge red flags go up and now have decided to be a consultant rather than a producer. However, good news, through that process I came up with a film idea for a short film regarding the sex trade; which, as some of you know, I have been developing for a feature film.  Yes, it is heavy subject, but it is something I feel passionately about.  So I will be writing and directing it.  I will need your help to get it made.  I will need you to spread the word about it and when the time comes, need you to kick in some money.

On the other fronts of my lackluster attempts at being an artist, I bought 4 lbs of wheat paste so that I can start working on mixed medium pieces. Also got 3 tubes of paint: black, white and red.  I am talking to some editors to edit Jamie Lowe’s”De Flip Side” and I just got a copy from Jonny Cromwell  book, “82 Days”; which I am going to start reading and strategizing for a release. And of course I have the series that I am developing. Which is an intensive endevour.
