New Film Project

I am producing a film concerning the subject of rape and survival.   Semone Fourniller  will be writing the script. She is a University of Tampa Alumni who is working on getting into the post Grad program at UCLA.  I also have Marilyn Bray as a consultant.

I am going to be looking for a female director and DP for this film. I think this is a great opportunity for women filmmakers. Unfortunately woman are under represented int his industry and this is my way of trying to change that.  Even if it is a little change.

I would love to hear back from you. I would like your input and thoughts.

Get Releases

As I learn more about film making and the distribution I am finding just how important releases are. As you may know you need them for your talent and people that are in your film. Right now I am working on a project that is on hold and could be shelved because we do not have the proper releases.

But need to have release forms you’ll need are crew releases. Permission from your production still photographer for the use  his or her photographs. Pretty much have releases forms for everything.

I have been reading about distribution and one of the main deal killers is not have the correct releases for the music in your film. This will stop a distribution deal in tracks.

I will go into more of this in the future. It is something I have to learn and as I go further I will convey it back to you.

Sorry for the delay

Sorry all I haven’t posted in awhile, I got caught up in some projects. This coming  week I will be posting some of the things I learned at the  Judith James producers workshop. I also have some things to share on what I learned when I saw Russell Hess speak this past Wednesday.  Really interesting stuff.

Coming up this week I am going to be working on  monologues I need for a class that I am taking with Ian Stevens. I am finally taking the plunge into acting classes.  I have a lot of work to do for the projects that I am working on and will be talking about them as I go along.

Thanks

Feast of the Foolish

I am currently the Producer of Marketing and Distribution (PMD) for the film Feast for the Foolish directed by the up and coming director Meg Pinsonneault who started Thirsty Girl Films. It is a period piece that is set in the 1930’s -40″s.  about a gangster who is  running from the law that finds himself lost in a desert when he is found by a band of Gypsies. From there he takes a journey in search of the future that leads to his past.

If you are fan of the series HBO”S Carnivàle then you’ll love this film.  It was shot on a Red with an amazing cast.

You can check out the new trailer HERE

We want to hear from you and want your feedback. We need it in order to engage you as well as making us better film makers.

Right now Meg is putting the finishing touches on the film before it goes to Sundance for consideration.

Also we have another film called Gwapa which is a documentary about a family in the Philippines who’s  story is about their three of the children have cleft lips and pallets and their journey to get surgery for the children by a Non profit organization that preforms surgeries for children with facial deformities. . This is an amazing story.

Producers workshop

Today there will be a Producers workshop at the University of  Tampa. This is exciting for me for I am really in the dark when it comes to producing and am working on 2 films as a producer. Talk about good timing.

Judith James who has produced  Quiz Show, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Having
Our Say, Mad Dog Time (a recent film in India), The Forest, among others, and the preparation and financing of two films for 2011-2012.

Come out and learn.

Welcome to my blog.

Welcome to my film blog.

Hello, I’m Tim Schroyer, an aspiring film maker located in Tampa, Florida and while I’ve always wanted be a film maker I didn’t really know where to turn.  A little over a year ago I decided to just get into it and started looking on  Craigslist .Through it I founds a local film networking site, joined it and started to work on any productions I could. As a result, I’ve  learned a lot about film making but the funny thing is, I still don’t know much.  So far I’ve worked on a few short films and some music videos and I finally directed my first music video for BC , a friend of mine.

I’ve also found a bit of the acting bug and, to date, I’ve appeared in two productions Sun Flower and The Trap.  I’ve also decided to start taking acting classes from one of my favorite directors, Ian Stevens.

If I’ve learned anything from film making so far I’ve learned that it’s hard work. If you want glitz and glam, watch Entertainment Tonight because filmmaking is a 14 hour a day job with little acknowledgment and less reward.

I also started to reading Ted Hope, Sheri Candler and Jon Reiss and began to learn the nature of film making and how it is changing. I have learned that as an artist it is wise of you to make your brand and to grow and develop an audience. They will be with you throughout your career. They will be your evangelist spreading the word of you. I will have a lot to say about this.

The purpose behind this blog is for you to join me on my journey. To see what I learn, perhaps even learning it with me.

For some of you this will be redundant and I hope you will join the discussions and help us trying to find our way. For those of use new to film making and for those that are just are curious about the process, I hope this blog will help you in your journey.

Thank you all for reading and enjoy.
